Further

Frosted winter landscape

Faintly reflected heat

Farmers canvas ….. asleep

Frescoes of stilled cobalt

Faraway memories

Finding self ….. whilst dreaming

Further away than ….. Time

Photo from Eyes of a Dragon – Crystalline Memoirs

A favourite winter walk in Northern Alberta. What mysteries await ….. around the bend?

Pleiades:  This titled form was invented in 1999 by Craig Tigerman, Sol Magazine’s Lead Editor. Only one word is allowed in the title followed by a single seven-line stanza. The first word in each line begins with the same letter as the title. Hortensia Anderson, a popular haiku and tanka poet, added her own requirement of restricting the line length to six syllables.

Background of the Pleiades: The Pleiades is a star cluster in the constellation Taurus. It is a cluster of stars identified by the ancients, mentioned by Homer in about 750 B.C and Hesiod in about 700 B.C. Six of the stars are readily visible to the naked eye; depending on visibility conditions between nine and twelve stars can be seen. Modern astronomers note that the cluster contains over 500 stars. The ancients named these stars the seven sisters: Alcyone, Asterope, Celaeno, Electra, Maia, Merope, and Tygeta; nearby are the clearly visible parents, Atlas and Pleione. The poetic form The Pleiades is aptly named: the seven lines can be said to represent the seven sisters, and the six syllables represent the nearly invisible nature of one sister.

Be-au-ti-ful, no other word can better describe the Words and of course, the photo. x

I love the blues in the picture, I think it is a truly amazing shot and your ‘frescoes of stilled cobalt’ is a perfect compliment to it. The dreamy quality of the picture suggests something wonderful around the corner. Lovely combination of picture with words. Your Pleiades expertise continues to progress!

    • Around the corner, awaiting attendance is …..Harvest!! But what lies ‘behind’ this direction is quite literally … past tense. Doubtful I will ever return to the small farm house …. in the other direction.

      • gimpet says:

Nice to see the connection. Was all this part of your family’s farm? You don’t show pictures from behind of the house, is there a reason? Why not go back? Is it gone? Sad memories? You are like a huge mystery that just gets deeper and deeper. Really, after a year I don’t feel like I know you much more than when we first started pen pal-ing.

        • Okay, this IS definitely ‘in an email‘ territory. But….WAS part of my family’s farm. More accurately…WAS part of my family. MOST accurately, the house behind, and all this land, belongs to the parents of my ex. Spectacularly amazing people. So, you can imagine now that I will never be returning to this magical road. I first saw the Northern Lights….around this bend. There are photos from MY family farm, scattered throughout too! Typically, if it has a barn, a fence, or hay bales…that is my side! 🙂

Sounds like you grew up together near each other or did you just happen to have similar upbringing? At least your daughter can go back to her roots, if she chooses. Sometimes inlaws still stay close, if one is able to maintain those ties. One can fall in love with a place as much as people. It is obvious that you love this one. Thanks for being open enough to share it.
LOL–emails, I started compiling a list yesterday. Lordy there are a lot of comments to go through, and they weave back and forth like a drunken sailor between all the posts 🙂 So if your stats were really high….it was me!

            • Nope. Workplace. But family farms, different parts of Alberta. This is all past history now. Moving on and in search of drunken sailor-ettes! And stats were you! Unless the new Follower called ‘Drunken Sailorette” clicked more! 🙂

              • gimpet says:

LOL, you never know, maybe she was wowed and went on every post you have ever done! Maybe ‘she’ is a ‘he’ 🙂 I would be very surprised if all those hot women who follow you haven’t asked you out yet. ‘Drunken Sailorette’ sounds a little…scaaaary to me. You never know what you will get with that one…

While I definitely didn’t go to THAT many of your posts, I am rather shocked at how many have comments I had to seek out to get all the “Ill email you that” promises…and I am not done! So expect more in the future when I have another free hour! And someday I will go to ALL your Eyes pics! Another award awaits!

                • LOL and by that I mean LOL! Must be some parallel universe where I am on ‘PlentyofDragons’ where THAT is happening! 60 views on Feb 27 – which was a record for ‘Eyes…’! And I double-checked back and found 2 photos missing, now replaced:
West Goose Trail and Guarded Autumnal Spirit.

                  • gimpet says:

Yes it was frustrating going through all those comments looking for “I will email you” because they all interweave together and I had to keep cross referencing. That is the problem with stats, if you are trying to find something, like I am doing now on Memoirs, it looks like people are reading. And yes, I know there were a couple missing, glad you found them. I am looking right now for a poem for you so THOSE stats….will be ME!

                    • Just start making a new list! 🙂

                    • gimpet says:

No way, after all the work I did? I read comments on 60, yes thank you for counting for me, 6-0 pictures! We have comments on 6-0 pictures! Holy Frijoles! And that doesn’t count Memoirs! I haven’t gotten to THEM yet….. Can you imagine the WORK I did on just Eyes? And I want my old email promises met before I start with any new ones… so there!
Sorry for the stat freak outs, but I cant turn that off, so just put up with it! Or help me out and YOU go through Memoirs…..lol, you don’t want to actually give ME a list that means WORK for YOU.

                    • Holy Frijoles is right! I didn’t mean to turn this into a homework assignment! 🙂 All promises are always kept! And this should be fun, not work! 🙂

                    • gimpet says:

I was fun until the end when my eyes went all wibbelty. I am a bull terrier, once I make my mind up to do something I DO it. It was fun re-reading all the comments, I think we have hit every topic known to man, L.O.L. You should re-read sometime when you, haha, have the time. I don’t know how you do links in comments but I found myself off track a lot clicking on stuff again that you had sent, so it took longer than I predicted–like my whole afternoon. Gave me an excuse not to do icky chores 🙂 So thank you, I think!
I confess though, after looking at Eyes….I need to take a break before hitting Memoirs up for THOSE comments. Bull terriers can only do so much before they poop out too.

                    • Dragon Orders: TAKE A BREAK! 🙂 I still have chores to do too… and I am “Captain of the Easily Distracted”, especially at work….squirrel…squirrel….SQUIRREL…!!!!

                    • gimpet says:

Sigh….MEE TOO. Anything to not clean toilets. Ok, Boss. Sayonara tomodachi!

                    • I am multi-tasking – laundry, dinner and WordPress!

  6. UnPoet says:

I think you’ve master this challenging form my friend! I love the pauses you put in your poems…they are perfect. Wonderful photo too.
